College / Year: Dartmouth College ‘07
Major: Physics and Economics
“Thank you for this incredible opportunity and experience- it was definitely one of the best things I could have done for myself to grow both professionally and personally. I learned a lot, I grew a lot, I met and was able to connect with so many fantastic people, and I had a great time throughout the whole week. This program really showed me how incredible and amazing 85 Broads is and how much of an unbelievable opportunity it is to be able to be in the network, use the network connect with all of the people in it, and be able to participate in programs and events such as Broad Advantage.”

“After having spent the last week with the Broad Advantage program, I feel compelled to write more than a letter of thanks. I want to convey to you the impact the program had on me. Never before have I felt so intellectually stimulated in a single environment. I had imagined that attending Cornell University would have had a similar effect, but I can sincerely tell you that there was something special about the Broad Advantage program. Each young woman I conversed with had so much to offer, and I felt as though I had an outlet of endless ears to listen to my opinions.”
From Broad Advantage 2006:
Name: Megan
College / Year: University of Oxford ‘07
Major: English
I do strongly believe is that the Broad Advantage program changed the direction of my life…I learned the value of ‘healthy competition’ before that week, coming from Oxford, I would have scoffed at putting either of those words in the same sentence…Every girl I met on the trip, and every speaker, I really hope will be a good friend and business associate for life.
Name: Katherine
College / Year: Princeton University ‘08
Major: History & American Studies
It was such a pleasure to be a part of such a wonderfully intelligent and talented group of women. The week was a great experience for me and for every other girl I talked with. The speakers were all phenomenal, talking to us about their lives, jobs, and passions, and they welcomed our questions. It is comforting to know that I have found not only what I am passionate about, but also many individuals who have been kind enough to offer guidance in a world relatively new to me.
Name: Kseniya
College / Year: Barnard College ‘09
Major: Political Science / Economy
Thank you so much for this absolutely transforming experience! It has opened my eyes and inspired me to pursue my dreams and not be hesitant to take an unconventional path. This program has helped me to learn a great deal about the world I am about to enter—the business world. But more importantly, it has helped me to learn more about myself. I’ve realized that doing well is not enough. Making a difference and transforming the lives of others for the better is what makes for a truly rewarding experience.
Name: Ali
College / Year: University of California Berkeley
Major: Political Science/Religious Studies
I was so inspired by my experience at the Broad Advantage program that I decided to start the Berkeley Women in Business Club. Whenever I am overwhelmed by the work associated with starting Berkeley WIB, I think back to all of the talented and driven female speakers I met during my week in NYC with 85 Broads!

I wanted to let you know that am the happy recipient of an offer of a full time analyst investment banking position. The Broad Advantage really encouraged me to step out in career areas I had never thought of and to believe that my abilities were more than up to the challenge. The interview process for investment banking was long, and I found myself constantly challenged given my Medieval Language background at Oxford. But, I was able to draw upon the inspiration of those who I have met through 85 Broads, which gave me the confidence and assurance to answer any question they threw at me.

I learned a lot about myself at the Broad Advantage. I also met someone from Federated during the program. I asked if I could pass on my resume, and she said, “I’d be happy to take your resume and pass it along. I’d be happy to offer my advice.” About a month and a half later, I was invited to attend Federated’s product development training program, which is a year long training program that exposes product assistants like me to all aspects of the business. Now I deal with everything from trademark infringement to marketing of our product.
